Leyton Orient owner Francesco Becchetti KICKS assistant manager Andy Hessenthaler

LEYTON ORIENT’S owner was involved in a bizarre incident where he KICKED
assistant boss Andy Hessenthaler.

Francesco Becchetti is seen following Hessenthaler onto the pitch at Brisbane
Road after the former Gillingham boss makes a gesture to the crowd after the
O’s 3-2 win against Portsmouth.

The Italian can then be seen taking a swipe at Hessenthaler — but the
ex-Watford midfielder has downplayed the incident as a longrunning joke
between the two.

Hessenthaler said: “Well, it is Boxing Day, to be fair. It was nothing — it
was fine. It was a little bit of banter; something that’s been going on
between us over the last few weeks.

“It probably looked worse than it was but it’s all good. He’s a passionate
guy, you can see that.”

The win earnt Orient an important three points to move to ninth in League Two
and just one point away from the play-off places.

But the club still released a statment explaining the crazy incident that
occured after the final whistle.

The statement said: “There was absolutely nothing untoward about the exchange
and the two men get along very well professionally on the pitch and
personally off the pitch.

“Mr Becchetti and Mr Hessenthaler were extremely pleased with the result of
the game and were celebrating a very well deserved and exciting win.”
