Despite announcing the news, the former Coronation Street actress has not yet
revealed the little boy’s name.

The news comes just two months after Suranne revealed her pregnancy at the
National Television Awards in January when she showed off her bump.

Speaking about her pregnancy to The Sun at the time, she said: “Me and my
husband are so thrilled… We’ve been married nearly a year and a half now
and what a wonderful way to move our marriage on. We’re dying to celebrate
the newcomer.”

Surrane is believed to have let the birth news slip on Friday night when she
missed the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.

She was unable to attend the glitzy event to pick up her best actress prize
for hit drama Doctor Foster because she needed to stay home with her new
baby.

Suranne addressed the crowd via a video message in which she apologised for
her absence.

She said: “Sorry I can’t be there but I have a good excuse.”

The actress is set for a busy year as she will be juggling motherhood with
filming the second series of her hit BBC drama.

Not only will she reprise her role as troubled GP Gemma Foster in Doctor
Foster, Suranne is set to increase her duties behind the scenes once she
returns from maternity leave.

She explained: “We start filming in September. It will be similar in
set-up and will follow Gemma. I’m Associate Producer this year so the script
isn’t under lock and key this time. I’m part of the collaborative team this
year.”
