Brussels airport bomber ‘worked as a cleaner in EU Parliament’ before taking part in ISIS atrocity that left 32 dead

Suicide bomber already a wanted man in Belgium before the fatal attacks

ONE of the ISIS bombers who executed the Brussels attacks had previously
worked at the European Parliament as a cleaner.

The jihadi is reported to be Najim Laachraoui, who was captured on CCTV
walking through the Zaventem airport where the bombers struck.

Suicide bomber Laachraoui had been employed by a cleaning company contracted
by the European Parliament, and took on the role as a summer job while he
was a student.

his undated handout photo released on March 21, 2016 by the federal police on demand of Brussels' king prosecutor shows a combination of two pictures of Najim Laachraoui, 25 years old. Police is looking for Laachraoui as part of the investigation into the Paris terrorist attacks. Laachraoui, born on 18 May 1991, is using the alias Soufiane Kayal. Police have found his DNA on explosives used in last year's Paris attacks, a French source revealed.

The bomber did not have a criminal record at the time and provided proof of
this before taking on the job, a European Parliament spokesman said.

He worked there on month-long stints in 2009 and 2010.

Though the idenitity of the Brussels attacker was not revealed in the
parliament’s statement, iniside sources told the AFP it was Laachraoui.

The 24-year-old was one of two suicide bombers killed in the attack on
Zaventem airport, and he was already a wanted man in Brussels after the
Paris attacks in November.

Laacharoui is thought to have made suicide vests for the atrocities in the
French capital after his DNA was found on some of the explosives.

European Parliament spokesman Jaume Duch Guillot said: “The European
Parliament confirms that seven and six years ago, one of the perpetrators of
the Brussels terrorist attacks worked for a period of one month for a
cleaning company which was contracted by the European Parliament at the
time.

“As a student, he held a summer holiday job cleaning at the Parliament
for one month in 2009 and one month in 2010. Those were the only instances
he worked at the Parliament.

“As required by the contract, the cleaning firm submitted proof of the
absence of a criminal record to the European Parliament.”
