FOOTBALL legend Gary Lineker has come out in an attack against the divorce
system insisting the process costs separating couples a fortune and more
often than not leads to them “hating each other”.
The twice-divorced 55-year-old former England captain, who is thought to be
worth more than £20 million, has managed to dodge huge legal bills incurred
by most divorcees via the use of a government website which charges
customers a relatively modest £400.
In a candid interview with the Radio Times, Lineker revealed: “Just generally
speaking, it’s very easy to get married and very difficult to get divorced.
And we know that lawyers try to manipulate it to make you spend more money
and basically end up hating each other.
“I think there should be a mathematical equation that goes straight to the
courts and they sort it out.”
It was claimed the pair split because Miss Bux, who already has a 13-year-old
daughter, wanted more kids and the former England hero did not.

However sources insist the one-time couple had in fact been living separate
lives for almost a year.
After news of their breakup emerged back in January, Lineker tweeted: “Thank
you all for your kind words. @DanielleBux and I had many wonderful years
together. We remain very close and the greatest of friends.”
While Lineker has remained in the UK to continue his work for the BBC’s
flagship footie show, ex-wife Danielle is currently in Los Angeles where she
hopes to boost her acting career.
Lineker, who famously also advertises Walkers Crisps in a long-running
promotional campaign, married his first wife Michelle Cockayne in 1986.
She was a trained beauty therapist and met the up-and-coming football star
because her family ran a flower stall beside his parents’ pitch in Leicester
Market.
But the former couple were granted a “quickie” divorce in 2006 after Michelle
cited “unreasonable behaviour” in high court documents.
Lineker was introduced to Miss Bux a year later by a mutual pal who set the
pair up on a blind date.
