AS fans continue to pour over lyrics of Beyonce’s new album Lemonade including
a line which takes aim at “Becky wiith the good hair” and points at
real-life marriage woes, is it really just a lucrative ploy?
With the record set to top the charts and Jay Z’s music streaming service
Tidal – on which is was exclusively release – reaping the benefits, there
are suggestions that the shrewd power couple are playing everyone.
In recent days Beyonce and Jay Z have both been spotted without their wedding
rings on.
The singer even flashed her bare hand proudly in a new official photo of her
snuggling with Blue Ivy backstage, which has just been released on her
website
However as she took to the stage for the first night of her Formation World
Tour, Bey dedicated love song Halo to “my lovely husband”.
Adding: “I love you so much.”
A source told : “They develop these
storylines to sell albums. Lemonade is a movie crafted to drive sales.
“Jay and Beyonce are entertainers at the top of their game. Do you think Jay
would release her album on Tidal if it really was all about him? He is 100
per cent behind this.”

Agreeing, MBW’s found Tim Ingham described the 34-year-old’s sixth studio
album as “the greatest album experiment for some time.”
He explained: “Beyonce did what she needed to do for her business interests.
“Lemonade appears to have done much more for Tidal than Tidal’s done for
Lemonade.”
He continued: “Namely, making the streaming service a far more attractive
prospect for would-be acquirers like Samsung.
“As a result of Lemonade, Tidal has enjoyed many more sign-ups, much higher
brand awareness, a sustained run at No. 1 on the US app chart and an
increasingly solid subscriber income.
“When Tidal gets sold – and I for one can’t see Jay Z sticking around too long
with what must be a loss-making entity – Beyonce the shareholder will
collect her winnings.”
Tidal was widely reported to be struggling following its initial launch in
2014.
Powered by Beyonce’s first musical effort in three years however, it has now
been catapulted 148 places up the list of the most downloaded apps in the
US.
Now sitting pretty within the top 5 apps on iTunes, it’s currently steaming
ahead of bigger streaming rivals such as Spotify and Pandora, report .
Beyonce has not given a single interview either in the run up or in the days
following the release of Lemonade.
Jay Z too has also remained eerily quiet.
“They’re marketing masters,” a source further dismissed to Page Six.
“They’re pros at this. The more attention, the more they sell, the better. All
that speculation is to get press when they need it. Lemonade is much deeper
than infidelity, but that’s the focus. As long as people are talking, they
don’t care.”
