Guede, 29 – who has always maintained his innocence – is said to be looking
forward to the taste of freedom.

He is expected to be let out of Viterbo’s Mammagialla prison today and will
return to his cell on Friday evening.

report that a court ruling was made by a probate court in

According to reports he said: “I will be able to feel the sun on my skin and

“Thirty-six hours, each one of them precious – I thank everybody who has had

Leeds university student Meredith was just 21-years-old when she was murdered
in 2007.

Guede is the only person to be convicted of the crime after Kercher’s roommate
Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend, Rafaelle Sollecito were acquitted.

Meredith was murdered in Perugia in 2007 while she was on exchange from the
University of Leeds.

Police found her dead on her bedroom floor with her throat slit.

Student Meredith from Coulsdon, South London, had been sharing a cottage in
Perugia with Knox.

Prosecutors said she was killed in a brutal sex game that went wrong.

In December 2009, a court found Amanda Knox guilty of murder and sexual
assault and she was sentenced to 26 years behind bars.

Rafaelle Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years.

The pair saw their convictions overturned in 2011 after evidence used against
them was found to be flawed.

American Knox, 28 – dubbed ‘Foxy Knoxy’ – said she was “upset” after hearing
news of his temporary release.

She said: “I’m upset by the fact that Guede has never shown any remorse and
hope that whoever granted him permission [to take temporary release] did so
only as part of a social reintegration programme.”

Earlier this month it was revealed that Knox has won the legal right to sue
Italy over the ‘unfair trial’ that saw her wrongly convicted of killing
Meredith.

She claims to have been subjected to hours of questioning without access to a
translator and to have faced “degrading slaps to the head”.

Guede will be eligible for parole in 2018.
