A TWISTED dad and his two sons have been jailed for a total of 81 years for
murdering two teenagers and a six-month-old baby in a horrific flat fire.
In a “truly terrifying revenge attack” Peter Eyre and his sons
Anthony and Simon poured petrol over the only exit from the Derbyshire
property and set it alight.
Tragic Amy Smith, 17, and her baby Ruby-Grace Gaunt were killed in the inferno
and close friend Edward Green, 17, also died.
They succumbed to smoke inhalation as they were unable to get out of the
three-storey flat.
Amy’s boyfriend and Ruby’s father Shaun escaped the blaze after neighbours
brought a ladder to the window.
The
three men carried out the senseless attack after a row about a £50 moped.
CCTV footage showed them driving to the flat in the early hours of June 21
last year, with Peter waiting in the car while his sons went and started the
fire.
Sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court, Justice Sue Carr QC said: “These
three tragic deaths have inevitably had the most profound consequences for
the many who loved those who died.”
Peter Eyre, 44, will serve a minimum of 32 years in prison, while Anthony, 22,
and Simon 24, will serve 23 and 26 years respectively.
The had all earlier denied three counts of murder.
Peter Joyce, who was representing Simon Eyre, asked the judge to consider
powerful influence the father had over his sons.

After Amy’s boyfriend Shaun believed that another one of Peter’s sons Aaron
had stolen his moped the previous April, he went round to his house in June
last year to get it back.
Peter threatened Shaun with a hammer, and the teenager responded by smashing a
beer bottle against a lamppost to use as a weapon.
The Eyres then armed themselves with sticks and chased Shaun off.
Peter and his two sons then went to the flat and carried out the thoughtless
revenge attack.
