Why women are mad for dad bod fad

Family guys object of spare tyre desire

MEN listen up. Women no longer want six packs, they prefer a DAD BOD.

So you don’t have to fear the beginnings of a beer belly, because having a few extra curves shows women a guy still takes care of himself but puts the special people in his life before the gym.

The fad is so popular, Instagram account College Dad Bods already has more than 11,000 followers.

Here, LYNSEY CLARKE picks S2’s favourite famous men with dad bods.

CROONER Michael Buble, 39, could charm most women with his dreamy, dulcet tones.

The Canadian star is far from fat, but we are pleased to see that the gym is not his top priority.

Michael, who is married to Argentine actress and model Luisana Lopilato, has a one-year-old son, Noah – making him a fully-fledged owner of a dad bod.

By COLIN ROBERTSON, Sun writer and dad-of-two

FOR years I ate what I liked and drank what I liked. Post 30 I started hitting the gym when the number on the scales moved up a notch.

Then I had kids and the steady morph into dad bod began. The gym took a back-burner. Three times a week became twice, then once, then “I better go this week”.

The calorie count grew and I’d find myself stuffing in leftovers from children’s meals.

But the thing is, I didn’t care. I still don’t. I’m still putting some effort in. You won’t find me on the cover of Men’s Health but you won’t find me in the bariatrics ward, either.

Now, thanks to the dad bod movement I’ve become a sex symbol. My tone-downed torso has been declared a thing of beauty.

Women find this “natural look” more desirable because it shows we’re too busy helping our wives and partners with the kids to try to turn ourselves into Poldark.

As actress and mother Donna Lynne Champlin declares: “Dad bod = family man with his priorities straight = sexy as hell.”

I’ll drink to that!

Once I’ve put the kids to bed, of course.
