BOXERS David Haye and Dereck Chisora come to blows yesterday in an astonishing
post-fight brawl that left Chisora facing an assault probe.
The British heavyweights squared up at a press conference after Chisora lost
to Vitali Klitschko in Germany.
In chaotic scenes Chisora, 28, taunted then confronted ex-world champion Haye,
a TV pundit on the night.
As the men clashed, Chisora accused retired Haye — nicknamed The Hayemaker —
of “glassing” him and Haye’s trainer Adam Booth suffered a cut head.
Cops later quizzed Chisora in a van outside the stadium after claims he had
threatened to SHOOT Haye.
The fighter was then arrested at Munich Airport as he prepared to fly home. He
was questioned for more than seven hours then freed.
Haye, 31, allegedly seen swinging a video camera tripod, was also being hunted
by German authorities, who described him as a key figure in their inquiries.
He moved hotels after the 2.30am fracas and flew out at dawn. A source said he
had chosen to avoid an airport bust-up with Chisora.
Chisora’s trainer Don Charles was also interviewed under caution after the
fierce five-minute melee.
Chisora had inflamed pre-fight tensions by slapping Klitschko at their
weigh-in.
After losing on points, he held the conference, where he mocked Haye over his
defeat to Klitschko’s brother Wladimir last July. He challenged Haye to a
fight in London before striding over.
As a scuffle broke out, he was then apparently heard shouting of Haye: “He
glassed me. I swear to God. David, I’m going to shoot you. I am going to
physically shoot David Haye.”
Then, spotting Booth’s cut head, he added: “I’m sorry about that. Adam, your
fighter glassed me.” Chisora also allegedly said: “If David don’t fight me
I’m going to physically burn him.”
One German official said: “We are investigating possible charges of assault.”
