OONA King was last night booted out of Dancing On Ice – after partner Mark
Hanretty dislocated his shoulder seconds into the skate off.
The politician, 45, found herself in the bottom two with Gareth Thomas and
skated out to begin a routine to Bill Withers’ Just the Two of Us.
But disaster struck when pro Mark fell to the ice in pain, clutching his
shoulder.
He was escorted off the ice while Philip Schofield comforted a horrified Oona,
who exclaimed: “It must be my fault.”
Despite being in obvious pain, Mark had his shoulder popped back in place and
the pair returned to the ice minutes later to perform their routine.
But their efforts were in vain, with the ice panel unanimously opting to save
Gareth and partner Robin Johnstone.
The pair had performed an impressive save me skate to Queen’s Somebody to
Love.
Earlier in the evening they had lost a head to head skating duel with Matt
Lapinskas and partner Brianne Delcourt – who won immunity to the public
vote.
Oona and Mark had lost to gymnast Beth Tweddle – who suffered a bout of
gastroenteritis on Friday night – and partner Dan Whiston in the duel round.
Leaving the contest, Oona paid tribute to Mark’s brave decision to continue
with the skate off.
