SHOPPERS are being charged up to a third more by Littlewoods than sister
site Very — for exactly the same stuff.
Littlewoods, fronted by Coleen Rooney, has a £969 tag on a 55in Samsung HD TV
— while Very has it £290 cheaper at £679.
PlayStation 4 game Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is £59.99 at Littlewoods but
£44.99 at its sister retailer.
And an Armani watch is 26 per cent more costly, £220 compared to £175. Call
centre worker Martin Bryan, 27, of Glasgow, noticed the difference while
Christmas shopping.
He added up eight items and found Littlewoods charged £1,487 to Very’s £1,252.
Martin said: “They are probably sourced from the same supplier, packaged in
the same place and sent from the same warehouse.”
Campaigner Marc Gander of Consumer Action Group said: “Littlewoods, such an
old and respected company that has earned the trust of generations of loyal
customers, seems to have abandoned its morality and betrayed that trust.”
Both sites are owned by retail giant Shop Direct. Both offer credit deals.
A spokesman pointed out standard deliveries were free with Littlewoods, while
Very charged according to size — although items could be collected.
He added: “When it comes to price, we’re committed to being transparent so
customers can make easy comparisons to other retailers.”
