SINGER and reality TV star Ray Quinn announced he is to split from his actress
wife – and plugged his new material in the statement.
The former X Factor contestant and Dancing on Ice winner confirmed the end of
his two-year marriage to West End star Emma Stephens this morning.
Ray, who has a son, Harry, two, with Emma, said: “Emma and I have
regrettably parted ways. Our lives, after a period of time, have gone down
separate paths.”
He went on: “Despite this obviously being a very difficult period in my
life, I am keeping busy with my new music and will be continuing with my UK
tour and the release of my new single as planned.”
Ray, 26, was blasted for promoting his song and tour in his statement.
One Twitter user said: “Good to see he has his priorities in order”,
while another wrote: “Wow, big publicity stunt off the back of your
wife and family.”
Just 15 hours before the split was announced, Ray published a Facebook appeal
urging fans to buy his new song and album.
He wrote: “I CANT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS!! WITH YOU GUYS ON BOARD
YOU CAN AND MAY JUST HELP LAUNCH ME AT THIS CRITICAL POINT IN MY CAREER.”
Ray, who got his start as a child actor on Brookside, met Emma when they
starred together in a West End production of Grease in 2008.
He proposed on Christmas Day, 2010 and they married on a Barbados beach in
March, 2012.
Ray once said of Emma: “I never thought a girl like her would be
interested in a guy like me. I feel fate brought us together. I will look
after and love her forever.”
