OLYMPIC rowing champ Heather Stanning got a hero’s welcome as she brought her
gold medal home to Scotland yesterday.
Hundreds of people — including school pupils — greeted Heather, 27, as she
paraded through Elgin and Lossiemouth in Moray.
The Royal Artillery captain — who was driven around in an Army Land Rover by
Sapper Dean GOLD — said: “It’s lovely to be home. It felt surreal
coming down the High Street and seeing all the kids.”
Heather — who won Team GB’s first gold of London 2012 with rowing partner
Helen Glover — also saw the post box in Lossiemouth painted gold to mark her
medal.
She said: “It’s very cool.”
