LEONARDO DiCaprio is planning on catching a few games with his mates during
the World Cup.
But unlike most fans, the Hollywood star will be doing it from the comfort of
the world’s fifth most expensive yacht anchored off Rio rather than down the
pub.
The 39-year-old and twenty pals are currently holed up in The Topaz – worth £400MILLION
– which belongs to Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.
It is moored off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, providing the ideal base for the
group to jet in and out of games from one of the two helicopter pads.
Last week Leo was spotted in the stands watching as the hosts took on Croatia
in Sao Paulo.
And if there was any questioning who he was backing in the tournament this
year, he proudly wore a Brazilian flag-print scarf.
He has a long history with the South American nation after being romantically
linked to a number of gorgeous Brazilian models, most famously Gisele, who
he dated for five years.
The actor only developed an interest in the sport during the last World Cup in
2010.
Speaking at the London premiere of Inception, he said: “I’ve been a
football fan for two weeks now, ever since my godson told me that he wants
to go to the World Cup and we flew off to South Africa to check it out.
“I gotta say, I am converted, I am a fan now. There is nothing like the
sport of football.”
Downtime for Leo and the lads won’t simply be spent dissecting the latest
matches and totting up group points, the group are spoilt for things to do
back to the 428ft-long boat.
As well as a top deck jacuzzi and swimming pool, there is also a cinema and
gym on the yacht – which has eight floors.
