CORRIE’S Chris Fountain sickeningly boasted of raping a woman in her home as
his rapper alter-ego The Phantom.
Clad in a terrifying Halloween mask, the 25-year-old soap star turned the air
blue as he spewed vile lyrics — claiming he was a “nasty ****”, a
“m************ gangster” and a “demon”.
In videos viewed by thousands on YouTube, he is also seen threatening to slice
a rival with a machete and stab them with a “diseased” needle — as well as
bragging about orgies and comparing his manhood to King Kong.
After one explicit outburst the actor, who also raps about raping a second
woman on her birthday, says to the camera: “I’m a f****** hero.”
But he is now facing the axe after The Sun alerted bosses on the ITV soap, who
last night suspended him “pending further inquiries”. Meanwhile he was
blasted by rape charities and MPs who accused him of “trivialising” sex
attacks.
Fountain — Coronation Street mechanic Tommy Duckworth since 2011 — was filmed
at a string of meetings staged by local group the West Yorkshire Cypher so
performers could show off their freestyle skills.
In the first of five video clips, The Phantom wears a white mask, cap,
sunglasses and a black hoodie as he raps that he is “savage” — warning:
“I’ll leave you in a f****** grave.”
Sat on a sofa, he spits: “Now I got a mask on I can diss p****s. F*** with me
and you don’t want to f****** risk it, I’ll play you like a board game.”
He adds: “I’m bored of fame so I’m taking on the rap game, remember the name,
it’s f****** Phantom.”
Fountain goes on to brag about setting his enemies’ houses on fire.
In a second rap he dons a bizarre two-face mask and chants about “severing”
faces and brains. Cheered on by beer-swilling pals, he describes dragging “a
girl that looks sultry wearing pink underwear” under his stairs before
bragging about an orgy.
Winding up the rap, he boasts that his manhood is “half the size of King Kong”
and makes a lewd reference to his sexual behaviour.
Other offensive performances captured on tape see Fountain’s alter-ego —
clad in a white hoodie spattered with red spots — gloat about bombing a
rival’s house with grenades.
Miming stabbing motions, he raps: “I’m a nasty ****, I will punch you in the
face and you look like you’ve been having some acupuncture ’cos my fist is
lethal. I’m a f****** hero, you’ve got f****** zero. I’m a m************
demon, I’ll stab you in the face with a needle.”
Last night Fountain rushed to apply privacy settings on the videos — which had
been freely available online — after we exposed him.
And in a grovelling statement he said: “I would like to sincerely apologise
for any offence I have caused. I am deeply ashamed by the lyrics and very
much regret my behaviour. The videos were made over a year ago when I was
experimenting with music and I’ve not done anything like it since and nor
will I.”
Meanwhile a Twitter account attributed to the ghostly MC, which brags he is
“always evil” and contains jokes about killing a rap rival, vanished.
And panicking Corrie chiefs were fighting to keep the most explicit content of
his lyrics under wraps.
But campaigners angrily attacked Fountain for his “despicable” rap.
Fay Maxted, chief exec of The Survivors Trust — an umbrella agency for 135
specialist rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse support groups —
told The Sun: “This is absolutely shocking.
“He is a high-profile character. It shows a complete lack of any kind of
respect for women at all. He is a role model for young people. It almost
seems like he’s making a joke of something that really isn’t funny.”
Witham MP Priti Patel said: “This is an appalling revelation that shows a lack
of respect, regard and understanding of the crime of rape. This guy is
trying to trivialise it. He should know much better.”
Alayne Jones — centre co-ordinator at Rape and Abuse Support — said she was
disgusted by Fountain’s remarks. She told The Sun: “It is irresponsible and
despicable. It certainly isn’t acting as a positive role model. It’s totally
unacceptable.”
Lyn Costello, co-founder of Mothers Against Murder and Aggression, said:
“Actors have such a powerful voice — especially those in soaps. I’m
disgusted at him.
“I’d like to show him families I deal with whose lives have been destroyed by
this type of thing.”
Fountain — dating dancer Jessica Derrick — hit fame as Justin Burton in
Channel 4’s Hollyoaks before landing his Corrie role. This year saw his
biggest storyline to date when screen girlfriend Tina McIntyre became a
surrogate mum to help settle his debts.
A Corrie spokesman said last night: “ITV find the language used and the views
expressed in this video totally unacceptable. Chris Fountain has been
suspended pending further inquiries into this matter.”
