Cheryl Cole’s rosy cheeks

15-hour agony as her bot is tattooed

CHEEKY Cheryl Cole has had her entire BOTTOM tattooed with this giant red rose
design.

The Geordie star shocked fans when a picture of the artwork — for which she
endured 15 hours of agony — emerged.

The design, by US artist Nikko Hurtado, comes after Cheryl, 30, had a rose
done on her lower back.

But the sight of the singer’s new inking sparked massive online reaction —
with most giving it the thumbs down.

The response to the tattoo — done at a cost of nearly £4,000 — varied from
“trashy” to “sh**”, with one baffled Twitter user posting: “This has upset
me. Was there any need?”

Medical experts also warned of the potential risks of infection — and even
hinted at it being a cry for attention.

But Geordie star Cheryl, 30, insisted she was “really happy” with the mammoth
design by world-renowned tattooist Hurtado in Los Angeles.

Last night she hit back on Twitter by quoting a self-help guru, saying: “The
easiest thing to be in the world is you, the most difficult thing to be is
what other people want you to be.”

And a friend said: “For her, this is a piece of art. She thinks it’s
beautiful.

“It’s a little weird, but she wants to show off her bum to her friends so they
can see it. It’s a positive thing.”

Cheryl endured agonising sessions spanning six months to have the inking
carried out. Tattooist Nikko, who charges around £250 an hour, said after
the marathon job: “It was some intense tattooing session. She’s tough as
nails.”

In 2011 Chezza, who has at least 19 other tattoos, got Nikko to do a huge red
rose design over her back. It was blasted by critics when she unveiled it on
the Girls Aloud reunion tour.

Her new design covers up existing tattoos of barbed wire and a reptile.

One friend said it symbolises a “fresh phase” in the life of Cheryl, who has
been through divorce from footballer hubby Ashley, been kicked off X Factor
and been laid low by malaria.

The pal said the star — now dating US dancer Tre Holloway and working on new
songs — saw the rose as “a sign of her blossoming love life and career”.

But British celeb tattooist Kevin Paul, who has worked on 1D’s Harry Styles,
said he would NOT advise clients to get giant designs on their
bottoms.

He said: “I love Nikko’s work but this is not my cup of tea.”

Cheryl’s other tatts include a Maori design, a butterfly and a “Mrs C” from
her marriage — which she keeps covered up and intends to have removed.

IT’S A CRY FOR ATTENTION

By DR SANDRA WHEATLEY, Social Psychologist

WHEN I saw this tattoo my first thought was, “What’s she trying to hide?”

I wonder if she is trying to deface her body and blight her own beauty. I
think only a handful of people will think it’s attractive.

A rose can be seen as gentle, fragrant and beautiful but also strong and
prickly. She could be trying to send out a signal that she’s more
complicated than she looks.

What’s interesting is that she has published what she’s done for the whole
world to see. I think it’s a cry for attention.

SHE’S TAKING A BIG RISK

By CAROL COOPER, Sun Doctor

CHERYL has used a reputable artist with good hygiene, but there’s still a risk
of infection.

A tattoo of this size creates a huge number of tiny holes in the body’s
natural defences.

The location is worrying too as skin round the buttocks and thighs carries a
range of bacteria — and loo seats can allow other people’s to gain entry.

Cheryl may be happy with how it looks at this age, but I see many older people
whose tattoos have become ugly on wrinkled skin with time.
