Ant opens up about three-year struggle to have a baby

ANT McPartlin has opened up about his struggle to have a baby.

The TV presenter — one half of hosting duo Ant and Dec — has
been trying for a child with wife Lisa Armstrong, 36, without success for at
least three years.

And the 37-year-old says he fears age is against them.

Speaking to Radio Times magazine he laughed off rumours he is waiting until
single pal Declan Donnelly is ready to have kids so they can have them
together — instead revealing that they are finding it “tough”
to conceive.

He said: “There’s a rumour that we do everything together and I’m holding
off having kids ’till Dec finds himself Mrs Right.

“I love that idea, but I’m afraid it’s not true. Lisa and I would love to
have kids. We’re trying.

“It’s tougher than you think when you get a bit older.”

Ant and Lisa — a former singer turned make-up artist — first
said they were trying for a baby in 2010, four years after they married.

He said at the time: “We’ve wanted children for a while, but we’re both
busy. We’re on holiday now, the first proper one for 15 years.

“So Lisa and I are trying for a baby. Well, we’ve been trying for a
little while so fingers crossed.”

Ant met Lisa in 1994 when she was performing with pop group Deuce and he and
Dec were singing as duo PJ & Duncan.

The presenting pair have since gone on to front shows including I’m A
Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Britain’s Got Talent and Saturday Night
Takeaway, which is set to return to screens later this month.

The pair are also thinking about branching out into comedy, and discussing the
idea of a silent sitcom.

Ant added: “We’ve talked a lot about the future this year.

“The difference between doing a live show and a sitcom is that a sitcom
can live on.

“So we’re developing a silent comedy idea at the moment.”
