BARGAIN Hunt host Tim Wonnacott has quit the BBC show – two months after being
suspended by bosses.
In September The Sun exclusively revealed that the 62-year-old presenter had a
bust-up with producers which was so serious the Beeb launched a probe into
what happened.
They said: “Bargain Hunt comes across as a really upbeat and friendly show,
but off camera there is a lot of tension.
“Tim is very old school and definitely not scared to voice his opinion. He can
come close to the line.”
Now, channel bosses have confirmed that he will no longer be working on the
daytime favourite, but will still appear on their other antiques shows.
The BBC said: “We would like to thank Tim Wonnacott for his dedication to
Bargain Hunt over the last twelve years and for the great expertise that he
has brought to the show in that time.
“Bargain Hunt will be moving in a new direction next year utilising a
team of experts who present a number of shows each.
“Tim continues to work with the BBC on Antiques Road Trip.”
In a statement, Tim said he is looking forward to the future.
He said: “I am pleased to have been part of Bargain Hunt for so many
years and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of my, roughly, 1200 programmes
hunting out bargains with the contestants.
“Alongside continuing to voice Antiques Road Trip for the BBC, I look
forward to developing new programme ideas.”
A team of experts will present Bargain Hunt from January onwards. Tim can be
seen in new episodes airing on BBC One until early 2016.
