DEREK Noakes is on a mission to save Broadhill Care Home.
The simpleton, played by comedian Ricky Gervais, can be seen clutching a
clipboard with a petition attached to it, in shots of the cast filming new
Channel 4 show Derek.
Wearing a grey and red zip-up cardigan, tracksuit bottoms and trainers, the
retirement home worker can be seen pounding the streets.
And pal Dougie (Karl Pilkington) is not far from his side, taking a break on a
nearby park bench.
The pilot for Derek hit screens earlier this year, and it has since been
picked up for a full series.
Funnyman Ricky tweeted today: “Up at B*****ks O’clock today due to
filming.”
And he added: “So that’s the first 5 hours filming on Derek. I only
ruined about 50% of the takes laughing. Ooh… when did I get so
professional, right?”
Earlier this year the 51-year-old was forced to defend his new comic creation,
insisting it is not a jibe at people with learning disabilities.
The comic, who sparked a storm last year after a string of “mong” jokes, said
the show does not mock the mentally vulnerable.
Ricky said: “If I say I don’t mean him to be disabled, then that’s it.
“A fictional doctor can’t come along and prove me wrong.”
