Over a decade as sports editor of , he helped lead the title to the Scottish Weekly Newspaper of the Year award in 2012 and was personally shortlisted for Weekly Sports Writer of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards in 2019. This role also included overseeing the sports output and managing a remote-working team of 56 local newspapers and websites across Scotland.
David later joined as a and provided frequent sports editor cover in both print and online. This two-year spell also included his career highlight, so far - travelling to Seville to cover in , online and in print while also meeting future colleagues at .
Since kicking off his career as a freelance football reporter across the SPFL for a variety of regional and national newspaper titles, his first full-time job arrived at his local newspaper, The Glasgow South and Eastwood Extra, and in the 20-years that have followed he has interviewed leading figures including Prime Ministers, First Ministers, Scotland managers and .
As well as football, he also has a keen interest in many other sports, including , rugby union, ice hockey and and holds an honours degree in Journalism from .
