Head of Consumer

Tara Evans is Head of Consumer for The Sun. With over 17 years of experience, she edits the award-winning Money section for The Sun's website and newspaper and manages a team of consumer journalists in the UK. Tara helped launch the Make Universal Credit Work campaign which demanded the government reform the benefits system, helping millions keep more of their money and get back into work. She is passionate about helping readers improve their finances - and she and her team fight for their rights and win back their money. She joined The Sun as Digital Consumer Editor in 2016 and moved into her role as Head of Consumer in July 2021. Previously she worked as a freelance consumer journalist writing for The Daily Telegraph and The Mirror. She also worked on a front-page investigation into where revealed how staff were being paid less than living wage. Before going freelance Tara wrote a weekly money saving column for Women’s Own magazine, as well as editing the money section on goodtoknow.co.uk. She also worked for Martin Lewis at MoneySavingExpert helping to write his weekly newsletter and content for the award-winning website. Her stories have also been published in the Mail on Sunday, Daily Mail and The Grocer. Tara started her career as editorial assistant at , as a reporter she wrote an investigation into a secondary ticketing website that helped inform a Dispatches documentary. She also wrote in-depth about high cost credit and debt. She graduated from Bournemouth University in 2007 where she studied BA Multimedia Journalism. In addition to her role at The Sun, Tara has also appears as a consumer expert on television and radio, including BBC news, Sky News and Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch. Got a story?
