Man Utd relegation odds SLASHED after another defeat as bookies remain cautious on rivals Man City

RUBEN AMORIM admitted it was ' really clear' that United could be drawn into a relegation battle.

Just how feasible that is remains to be seen - but the bookies aren't taking any chances.

Following last night's defeat to Newcastle - their FOURTH loss in a row - United were left in 14th, seven points clear of the drop zone and 13 behind Chelsea who occupy fourth.

Amorim was quizzed on his side potentially being dragged into a fight near the bottom of the table and told Sky Sports: "That is really clear, and we have to fight.

"It’s a really difficult moment, one of the more difficult moments in the history of Manchester United, and we have to address it with honesty and to be clear with that.

"We have to fight, we’ll see."

And with a trip to runaway leaders Liverpool next, it certainly doesn't get any easier.

And the odds are only going one way.

The three promoted sides occupy the bottom three spots at present and are all odds-on to go straight back down, with Southampton (1/40) already looking doomed.

Ipswich (7/25) and Leicester (4/9) look in a fight and it's Wolves (5/2) and Everton (33/10) they're most likely to be scrapping with.

Then it's Manchester City, with the bookmakers remaining cautious on upcoming rulings on their charges and they're a 10/1 shot.

Then it's only Crystal Palace at 16/1 with a shorter price than United to go down, with Brentford and West Ham joining them on 33s.

Brighton at 250/1 are next, showing how far behind the Seagulls that Amorim's side are.
