Flutter join in LA fires support efforts by opening $250,000 charity fund
FLUTTER have joined in the support efforts of the disastrous fires in Los Angeles by opening a charity fund.
Raging wildfires have destroyed neighbourhoods and claimed the lives of at least 24 people in the Californian city.
The betting giants - owners of Betfair, Sky Bet, Paddy Power and PokerStars - have set aside a huge $250,000 fund to help with the relief.
Flutter, alongside their largest and US-facing betting platform FanDuel, have had business ties to Los Angeles for a couple of decades.
And they have around 400 members of staff on their payroll who work and live in Los Angeles, according to SBC news.
The generous donation will be used for non-profit charity Americares and the LA Fire Department Foundation.
Americares are most concerned about the immediate health and wellbeing of those directly affected by the fires, while the Fire Department can obtain vital equipment to help tackle the devastation.
FanDuel CEO, Amy Howe said: “FanDuel and Flutter have been proud members of the Los Angeles business community for over two decades.
"We are heartbroken by the devastating loss these wildfires have created in a community we call home.
“We are committed to ensuring our employees are safe and making sure the community has the resources it needs to support the heroic efforts of our first responders.”
