BABY FEARS

I had sex with girlfriend before school and I am scared she may be pregnant

DEAR DEIDRE: MY girlfriend and I had sex before school one morning and I’m paranoid she might be pregnant.

We are both 15 and come from religious families.

We have been sleeping together for a couple of months and always use condoms. But this time I saw the condom had split.

I haven’t told her what I saw, as I didn’t want to worry her. But I’ve been really scared ever since.

I keep asking her if she feels sick at all as I know that is a symptom of being pregnant.

She says she feels fine and I think she’s beginning to wonder why I’m always asking the same question.

How can I be sure she isn’t pregnant without letting her know why I am so worried?

DEIDRE SAYS: If you want to know for sure, your girlfriend would need to take a pregnancy test.

You can get these in any pharmacy.

Although you may not want to worry her, your girlfriend has a right to know the condom might not have worked the last time you had sex.

Take one step at a time and try not to get ahead of yourself.

Whether she is pregnant or not, you can both get support from Brook () which provides sexual health advice for young people.

I’m also sending you my support pack Unplanned Pregnancy, which will help inform you and decide what to do if she is pregnant.
