My mum treats me like a child and tries to stop me from seeing my ex-boyfriend

My ex, 37, broke up with me a few years ago, but he’s my soulmate. We’re now seeing each other again.
He only ever wants me to go round late at night – he says he’s busy in the day.
My mum thinks he is just using me for sex and says I’m making a big mistake. She says I shouldn’t go.

But my ex says if I don’t meet him, he’ll break up with me again.
Do I really need to tell my parents where I’m going at my age?
DEIDRE SAYS: Your mum is no doubt concerned about you as this guy has hurt you before.
Threatening to break up with you if you don’t do what he wants is a sign of a toxic relationship – this is hardly the action of a loving partner.

You are an adult and should be allowed to make your own decisions.
However, ask yourself whether this relationship really has a future if this man only ever wants to see you late at night.
