DEAR DEIDRE: RATHER than angrily issuing Ava with an ultimatum, which will make her feel backed into a corner, start again calmly.

When you have both cooled off, explain how it makes you feel sitting up in bed at 2am, knowing she is with another man.

Your arrangement has been driven by Ava so she may well be reluctant to relinquish it.

But ultimately, if non-monogamy is more important to her than your relationship, then you will need to find a way to separate.

But talking about your feelings is a far better starting point than picking an argument.

My support pack Looking After Your Relationship explains how to improve communication between you.
