THANK YOU

After I lost my wife, you helped me navigate dating again

DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER my wife of 30 years died, I was so lonely.

So when I met an apparently lovely woman online, I felt ready for love again. But I also felt guilty  - as if I was being unfaithful to my late wife - and nervous.

I’m 62 and my wife was 58 when she died, just over a year ago.

When I wrote to you for advice, I’d been talking to a woman, 40, in Romania for two months.

She kept saying she wanted to come to visit me in the UK.

You were so sympathetic to my grief and sent me your bereavement support pack, recommending counselling.

And, kindly but firmly, you warned me to be wary of my new girlfriend, as she might be scamming me.

You advised me not to give her money or personal details and sent me your Love Online pack.

I took heed of your words and realised some of what she had said seemed too good to be true.

Now I’ve blocked her.

I am slowly healing and hope to meet someone more local and nearer my age soon.

Thank you for looking out for me, Deidre.

I’m so pleased I was able to help protect you.
