DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER bouncers refused to let me back into a bar, I had no choice but to walk home alone as my boyfriend didn’t come and help me.

It happened when I’d gone outside to smoke and then tripped and grazed my knee.

I am a woman of 25 and my boyfriend is 26. We have been together for almost a year.

We had spent most of the evening at this bar, where we had both got very drunk.

After I got stuck outside I kept calling my boyfriend’s mobile but he didn’t answer.

I tried to get a taxi but in my drunken state I couldn’t focus.

I decided to walk home, as it wasn’t far. I must admit it was all a bit of a blur.

My boyfriend eventually called me the next morning. He was very apologetic and simply said he thought I had seen some friends there or I had just walked off and gone home.

I am really upset, as I can’t believe he didn’t bother to check that I was safe.

MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE

DEIDRE SAYS: I’m glad you are safe, but things could have turned out differently.

Being drunk and alone late at night made you vulnerable.

What is clear is that you are both drinking too much – everything was a blur for you and may well have been for your boyfriend too.

Talk to him about how much you are both drinking and agree on how you should look out for each other’s safety in future.
