My boyfriend cheated on me with my best friend at my birthday party

DEAR DEIDRE: MY boyfriend and my best friend walked back into my birthday party and everyone could see that they’d been up to no good.

I am 21 and during my birthday party, my boyfriend said he was going out for a cigarette and then I realised my friend had disappeared too.

My brother went to find them but he came back saying that they weren’t at the front of the pub.

When they finally re-emerged, my best friend’s up-hairdo was a mess and my boyfriend’s clothes looked dishevelled. They were both drunk.

I ran to the toilets in tears and my best mate went home. My mum encouraged me to go back out and enjoy the rest of the evening, but it was hard.

When the party was over, I confronted my hammered boyfriend and he admitted he’d kissed my mate and that he liked her but he loved me more.

He is 23 and until that moment, I was thinking of trying to have a baby with him.

I’m not speaking to my best friend at the moment. She’s 22.  I feel so betrayed. My boyfriend has begged me for forgiveness and said he doesn’t want to lose me.

Can I ever trust him again?
