DEAR DEIDRE: MY boyfriend and I both have baby-fever but I don’t want to feel like this.

I am only 16 and my boyfriend is 19.

I spend my time either at college, with my boyfriend or helping my mum babysit my young nieces. That has a lot to do with my baby-fever.

I thought it was just a phase so I started spending more time with other friends. But my boyfriend doesn’t help when he strokes my tummy and imagines what we will call our hypothetical children.

I am taking extra care not to get pregnant, making him use condoms as well as taking the Pill. I just want to focus on my education.

DEIDRE SAYS: Well done you for handling this responsibly.

Feeling broody is a very strong urge but your boyfriend isn’t seeing the reality of non-stop childcare.

Be honest with yourself and your boyfriend. Are you sure you still want the same things?

Focus on your goals and how you are going to reach them, plus have some fun as a teenager.
