Facebook flirt says he needs £20,000 to leave Kazakhstan and be with me

DEAR DEIDRE: THROUGH Facebook I am in touch with a lovely Canadian man, who is currently working in Kazakhstan.

My husband died a couple of years ago and I am still only 37, so it seemed a good idea to find new contacts online. This guy is very interesting and knowledgeable and I look forward to him contacting me.

He now says he wants to be with me but it is impossible unless he can find £20,000 to tie up loose ends, get out of his contract and come to the UK. I would like to help him out, but am I being naïve?

DEIDRE SAYS: I’m afraid you are. This is a well-known romance scam. Find more on Action Fraud’s website.
