FANS of Location, Location, Location have criticised host Phil Spencer for encouraging a couple to buy a "horror house".

Adam and Becky, from Essex, had a £300,000 budget - however in last night's episode of the Channel 4 show, the presenter was shown trying to persuade them to buy a £290,000 property in a "concrete jungle".

The pair revealed they wanted to buy a home they could "grow into" with a family.

But viewers were left horrified on their behalf by one of the places which Phil described as the "perfect family home" - despite it being a tempting £10,000 under budget.

According to Adam, the three-bedroom semi-detached house in the village of Tiptree had the external appearance of a "concrete jungle".

After a tour, he added: "I think it’s a bit grey and sad outside - over there you have trees and grass verges and here it’s a bit more concrete jungle."

Becky, observing low ceilings and garish decor, agreed: "'It just needs a lot of money spent on it."

Those watching at home agreed with him that the property - featuring a large lounge with a south-facing garden and kitchen - was rather uninviting.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "That house they're looking at now is horrible. Boring and boxy and bland."

Another commented: "Another 1980s box."

A third shared: "#locationlocationlocation is showing some horror show of houses today."

And a fourth added: "Yes, it's a f****ing horrible area. Horrible naff house in a dull dully dull area.

"And WTF is Phil on? That is not a good house. Its boring and dull and boxy."

Unsurprisingly, the couple decided that the house wasn't for them.

Phil - who explained in the programme that he had shown them it to demonstrate what their money could get them at various price points - proceeded to show them another property in the coastal village of Tollesbury.

They were much happier, and put in a successful offer of £298,000.
