Princess Beatrice wants to marry in Italy but ‘can’t as the Queen won’t fly to Europe’, royal expert claims

PRINCESS Beatrice is due to walk down the aisle to marry her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in England and not in Italy as the Queen ‘doesn’t fly to Europe’, an expert has claimed.

The 31-year-old got engaged to the multi-millionaire property developer following a whirlwind 11-month romance, and the pair are now planning their nuptials.

Edoardo has Italian roots, and is the son of Olympic skier Count Alessandro Mozzi, and is a descendant of Italian aristocrats.

Property tycoon Edoardo, 36, proposed to Princess Beatrice in Italy, and it’s been claimed she would love to tie the knot in the Mediterranean country.

But the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson may be forced to have her wedding in England due to one important guest – the Queen.

Royal expert, Ingrid Seward, has claimed the 93-year-old will not fly to Europe for her granddaughter’s wedding.

She told : “I think in her heart Beatrice would like to be married in Italy where Edo's from, but there's no way the Queen will fly to Europe for the wedding so it will have to be in England.”

Instead Princess Beatrice is likely to have her wedding at St George’s Chapel, in Windsor – dubbed the ‘family church'.

It’s where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot, and also where her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, wed Jack Brooksbank last year.

Princess Beatrice now faces a “dilemma” as she doesn’t want her wedding to be compared to her sister’s, and she doesn’t want it to look like a “re-run”, Ingrid added.

Her wedding is likely to be “traditional with a modern twist”, with the bride wearing a “simple gown”.

Princess Beatrice announced her engagement with a series of photos, taken by her sister, wearing a green £595 Zimmerman dress, and flashing a 3.5 carat ring from Shaun Leane, thought to cost £100,000, as well as a £2,730 Cartier love bracelet.

The pageboys are likely to be Edoardo’s two-year-old son Christophie ‘Woolfie’ Woolf, from a previous relationship with architect and ex-fiancee, Dara Huang, as well as Prince George, six.

This will make Princess Beatrice to be the first royal to be a stepmother, but unlike her cousins Princes William and Harry, she didn’t need permission from the Queen to get married.

Announcing their engagement, the couple said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to actually be married.

“We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

While no date has been in stone, it’s thought the couple will tie the knot next year.

Sarah Ferguson is looking forward to her other daughter getting married, with she and Prince Andrew releasing a statement saying: "We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watching their relationship develop with pride.

"We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future."

And her sister, Princess Eugenie, posted a tribute online, saying: "Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo.

“It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be."

Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen doesn’t go on formal overseas trips but declined to comment on her private life.
