Cheeky bride and groom blasted for asking people who can’t attend their wedding to give them cash via Paypal
A COUPLE have been branded ‘tacky’ for asking people who can’t attend their wedding to give them money via PayPal instead.
The bride and groom posted an update about their upcoming wedding on social media, specifically targeted at people who can’t make it.
The pair asked people to give them money if they’re unable to come – offering a choice of three different ways to pay.
They said: “If you want to give a wedding gift because you are unable to come to the wedding, or you want to give a gift before the wedding, please message me and I will give you my PayPal, Cash App or Venmo information.
“All money will be used for our hotel for the weekend of our wedding.”
Their fundraising page shows they’re asking for £325 ($400), and have so far raised £48 ($60) from a donation from one person.
Their social media post ended up on , where it was slammed as ‘tacky’.
One person commented: “It is awkward and such, but at least they are not demand a gift be 300 or more like I have seen in this r/ before. [sic]
“Someone was saying they wouldn't accept any gift less than 300 dollars, whether cash or item.
“I think begging for cash before the wedding is tacky though.”
Another said: “I've seen people do that, so I can't say it's unreasonable really?
"It's a bit tactless to post that instead of waiting to see if people message you about it, but I've seen a lot worse than this.”
A third wrote: “At least they’re not asking for 10 grand.”
While someone else said: “’If you want to give us a gift BEFORE the wedding’ takes it to a whole new level.”
