Mum invents brilliant tip to keep kids quiet by telling them they need to lie still to ‘charge’ their glow-in-the-dark pyjamas
A MUM has come up with a brilliant tip for getting kids to lie still – but first you need a pair of glow-in-the-dark pyjamas.
Jessica D'Entremont, 33, bought her daughters a pair of snazzy jammies but told them they must ‘lie still’ to ‘charge them’.
Jessica, from Massachusetts, shared a snap on of her two little girls, Hannelore, three, and Emma, four, lying on the floor under the light.
She captioned the image: “Looking for a way to keep your kids still.
“Buy them glow in the dark pjs.
“Tell them they have to lie really still under the light to 'charge' them..... I'm not even sorry.”
Her tip has since gone viral, racking up more than 188,000 likes as parents hailed her as a ‘genius’.
But she was forced to update her strategy after her kids began to question her.
She added: “To expand on the trickery I've started putting the pjs back into their drawer when they get dressed in the morning.
“Unexposed to light all day they dim and do not glow in the dark when they tried to test me last night.
“Reinforcing the need to lie quietly under the light before bed.”
Jessica documents her parenting journey to raise awareness of sensory processing disorders, which both her daughters have.
The mum-of-two explained why she came up with the idea, after having a stressful day.
She said: “Both girls have sensory processing disorder.
“Their routine was disrupted due to a fundraiser I had that morning for my work, Care Dimensions.
“So they were particularly hyper and running around on the verge of meltdown.
“I whipped out the PJs which had been packed away in the back of a drawer so I told them they needed to lie very still to charge them. And they did!
“And I got 10 minutes to quietly put clothes away.
"I had to actually tell them it was time to get up for bed.”
Her post has also racked up 56,000 comments, as fellow parents praised her idea.
One person said: “This may just work.”
Another wrote: “It seems like a really good idea.”
A third said: “I’m so buying glow in the dark pjs.”
Others simply called her “brilliant” and a “genius”.
