RALLYING THE TROOPS

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should be ‘treated like heroes’ despite angry outburst, says life long polo playing pal

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle should be "treated like heroes" despite his angry outburst earlier this week, one of his oldest friends says.

Nacho Figueras, a polo player, made the comments during a TV interview with Ellen DeGeneres - and following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's attack on the press.

Speaking on The Ellen Show, the 42-year-old Argentinian star - who has been pals with Harry, 35, for 13 years - said it was "depressing" that the media is "not seeing that these two (Meghan and Harry) are heroes".

Nacho told the presenter: “I’ve seen it all happen from the very beginning, when he was younger…he is a wonderful man, someone that really cares, he’s really committed.

“He cares about children, he cares about making the world a better place.

"Then he found Meghan, who is an incredible girl, she’s amazing — she gave up all the things she had to marry this man she loves.

“And people think how easy it is, for you to go and marry this guy…but no one knows the very hard things that go with that.”

Nacho continued: "The most depressing (thing) is that the media and even some people are not seeing that these two (Meghan and Harry) are heroes, we should be treating them as heroes.

"These guys are taking their time to make the world a better place and they’re fighting for us, and instead of us embracing them and loving them and cheering for them, we’re attacking them. It’s a shame."

It comes as it was revealed earlier this week that Meghan, 38, is suing the Mail On Sunday.

His TV interview with Ellen DeGeneres comes as the couple attacked the press

In a statement revealing the legal action, Harry claimed the couple were suffering from the "painful" impact of "relentless propaganda" against the Duchess.

The Duke has since been told off by ex-Palace staff and royal commentators for the move - which came at the end of the royal tour to Africa - while his wife has been accused of "invading her own privacy by leaking the letter sent to dad".

Prince Charles’ biographer Penny Junor said: “This is the most extraordinary statement and goes way beyond anything I have ever seen issued by a member of the royal family.

“I completely understand that Harry should feel protective about his wife and there have undoubtedly been some negative stories in the last nine months that must have hurt - but not exclusively in the Mail on Sunday - and they have not all been lies, nor I would suggest, part of a ruthless campaign."

While Piers Morgan told him to ‘clamber down off his hysterical hothead high horse’ and to stop ‘playing the victim’.

Nacho revealed in June that Harry is an "amazing" dad to baby son Archie, now five months old.

Similarly, Ellen has also met the couple's firstborn during a visit to Windsor where she "spent the afternoon";.
