The Queen ‘is a massive JLS fan and loved watching them on TV while eating her dinner’, JB Gill reveals
OF ALL of the music we might have guessed the Queen tunes into, JLS' hits weren't exactly at the forefront of our minds.
However, the monarch, 93, is a self-confessed fan of the boy band, according to member JB Gill.
The 32-year-old singer - who came second on The X Factor with Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams in 2008 - told how Her Majesty personally told them when they performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert in 2012 that she enjoyed listening to their music.
Speaking of the moment, JB - whose real name is Jonathan Benjamin - recalled: "Meeting the Queen was amazing, she told me that she watches JLS on the TV while she eats her dinner.
"We didn’t believe her - we thought someone had told her what to say to us - but she named our songs!
"We were blown away.”
They came runner-up to winner Alexandra Burke in the fifth series of the TV talent show.
During their six years together, the boy band sold more than 10m records, won two BRIT Awards and garnered a £24m fortune.
They split in 2013, telling Alan Carr during an interview that same year that they wanted to ensure they went out "on top".
Last year, JB announced in an Instagram post that his wife Chloe had given birth to a baby girl.
It comes as it was revealed the Queen gets her own designated loo on royal tours that no one else is allowed to use.
Gordon Rayner, a political editor, who went on several royal tours with the monarch, wrote about the strict bathroom regime that takes place.
He wrote in the : “Royal tours can seem faintly ridiculous affairs, partly because of host countries’ awed reactions to their VVIP guests (sensible senior officials tie themselves in knots over the toilet arrangements for royal visits) and partly because of the Royal family’s travelling habits.
“For loo breaks a retiring room is designated for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh everywhere they will visit, which may also be used as a panic room in case of an attack.”
