CUP A LOAD OF THIS

The Queen told off ‘noisy’ schoolboy during royal visit – then turned down a cup of tea saying she’s far too busy

RETURNING to her first royal engagement since her summer break last Friday, the Queen had some stern words for a schoolboy who was being "very noisy".

Her Maj seemed to be in good spirits as she headed to the Haig Housing development near Morden, south London, to officially open the charity's 70 new homes for veterans and their families on Friday.

During the engagement, the 93-year-old monarch visited veteran Michael Bowman - who served in the Grenadier Guards for 14 years - and his family in their home.

The Queen was introduced to Mr Bowman's wife as well of his two sons, with his youngest having been part of a crowd cheering the Queen as she arrived.

And it seems the excited school children had been a little too loud for Her Maj, who took the opportunity to tell the young man off.

"You were making a lot of noise," she told him.

And it seems the Queen's first day back at work was a busy one after she revealed she didn't even have time for a cuppa.

Although Mrs Bowman offered the monarch a tea, she politely declined.

“I don’t think I have time for that unfortunately," she said.

"I'm very busy."

The Queen also met 100-year-old Ken Souter who flew with the RAF in north Africa during the Second World War.

The centenarian, who also flew one of the four Lancaster bombers in the 1954 Dambusters film, showed the Queen the telegram he received on his 100th birthday.

The Queen said she was "glad to see" the card had arrived, as she is "always worried" the post will not be delivered on time.

Last month, we told you how a builder claimed the Queen once made him a cup of tea at Buckingham Palace.

The workman was dismantling a desk and was out of view when a well-spoken woman asked him if he fancied a brew.

He replied: “Yeah. In a mug. Two sugars. Builders’ tea. I don’t want any of that nonsense I had the last time I was here, all that fine china and all that saucer stuff.”

The woman returned and said: “I’ve put your tea on the table here.”
