SOMETIMES we really do feel for The Queen - after all, she spends an enormous amount of time travelling up and down the country shaking hands with people she doesn't know.
However, Michael Sheen has revealed that Her Majesty has a genius tactic for letting people know when their interaction has run its course - and it actually involves a little "shove".
Appearing on the BBC's Graham Norton show in 2009, the Welsh actor described his meeting with the monarch when he was awarded an OBE that year.
Despite being a world-famous actor, Michael admitted that he was a little nervous trying to remember all the etiquette rules for meeting royalty.
Describing how an aide stands by The Queen to remind her who's who, Michel said: "She comes up, comes forward to put the medal on you."
So far, so normal. But after having a quick chat about his then-upcoming role in the 2010 movie The Special Relationship, the actor says The Queen was ready to move on to the next person.
He continued: "She must meet so many people, presumably a lot of people get a bit rabbit in the headlights with her."
As a way of getting around this (and stopping the inevitable rambling of a nervous celebrity), Michael said: "She does this thing where she shakes your hand and then when it's time to go, she just kind of shoves you away."
Joking about how he comes from a "rough" area, the actor said he had to "back off".
Shortly after receiving his OBE for outstanding contribution to acting, the star told the : "This is a huge honour. I am both thrilled and slightly mystified but very grateful."
