Dad spends £5,000 building his daughters a two-storey Disney playhouse as ones in the shop ‘weren’t good enough’
A DAD built his girls a two-storey Disney playhouse — as the ready-made ones “were not good enough”.
Richard Thornton, 39, spent the summer, and around £5,000, making the Snow White-themed cottage for Alba, four, and Phoebe, six.
He said: “Everything in the shops looked like a shed. They love Disney so I wanted to make something princessy.”
The mock-Tudor house has a kitchen and living room, plus stained perspex windows featuring Disney scenes.
It even has a “chill out” area upstairs with cushions.
Richard spent summer evenings building it, even sourcing hand-cut horse chestnut wood for the roof.
He also added blue wisteria around the eaves for a look like the 1937 original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The landscape gardener, of Bedford, added: “I wanted it to be exactly like the film.”
He said wife Julia, 33, was “blown away” by it, adding: “It was all worth it to see how happy they are playing in it.”
