Kate Middleton steps up to the plate working non-stop after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry desert royal family

SHE might have three children under the age of six - but busy Kate Middleton has been working non-stop to make up for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step back from the Royal Family.

Following her whistle-stop tour of the UK earlier this month, the Duchess of Cambridge has embarked on her FOURTH royal engagement in a week this morning.

The mum-of-three was up bright and early today as she arrived at Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-School to serve the young students breakfast.

The Duchess is promoting her survey into early childhood called Five Big Questions On The Under Fives which aims to create a UK-wide conversation about raising the next generation.

In the past seven days alone, Kate has visited a children's hospital, attended a Holocaust memorial ceremony and visited a jail in Woking.

Last Wednesday, Kate completed three engagements in 24 hours by visiting a women's prison - having been to a children's centre in Cardiff and Birmingham's Science Museum the day before.

But just as the Duchess began her third engagement, her sister-in-law Meghan Markle was accused of "stealing her thunder" with an Instagram post.

The former Suits actress shared new photos of her visit to the Mayhew animal welfare charity that were taken two weeks before the couple's shock move to Canada.

After her busy 24 hours travelling to Birmingham, Cardiff and Woking, Kate - who is Patron to six charities - then stepped out again on Monday to attend a Holocaust memorial ceremony in London.

The Duchess fought back tears as she listened to survivors' stories on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.

Kate later said it was a "privilege" to meet survivors and described the ceremony as "very poignant".

And after her emotional start to the week, Kate was out again yesterday promoting her new survey as she visited the Evelina London Children's hospital.

The mum-of-three - who dazzled in a Dolce and Gabbana tweed suit - made time to chat to patients and their families before getting stuck into the artistic workshops run by her patron charity The National Portrait Gallery.

And she gushed over a homemade wreath made for her by Luke Wheeler-Waddison, 10, and his little sister Savannah, four - which she promised to put up in Princess Charlotte's room.

During her visit, the Duchess even "bonded" with a mum who also waited nine years for her husband to propose like Prince William.

But despite the crisis facing the Royal Family following Megxit, the Duchess has appeared in high spirits throughout all her engagements.

In comparison to Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - who have since lost their HRH titles - have completed just one royal engagement together in public when they visited Canada House at the beginning of January.

Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan made the shock announcement that they were "stepping back" as senior members of the Royal Family to carve out a more "progressive" role within the monarchy.

It came after The Sun revealed they were due to discuss plans to move abroad after a successful six-week trial holiday in Canada over Christmas and the New Year.

National Theatre bosses were reportedly fuming as Meghan - who is their patron - "carried on as if all was ok" when she visited the venue before it was revealed she was stepping down from her role in the Royal Family.

Following the announcement, Meghan returned to Canada to be reunited with Archie while Harry was locked in crisis talks with the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William.

It has since been decided that the couple will split their time between the UK and Canada and repay the £2.4m which was spent renovating their Windsor home Frogmore cottage.
