Kate Middleton ‘always beats’ Prince William at tennis, reveals former great of the game

IT'S well known that Kate Middleton is an avid tennis fan, having arranged for Prince George to have lessons with ace Roger Federer and being the royal patron of Wimbledon.

Now, a former legendary player has revealed the Duchess of Cambridge "always beats" husband Prince William when they play.

According to Australian former world number one Rod Laver - who sat with the couple in the Royal Box at Wimbledon last year - the royal couple frequently go head-to-head on court.

Speaking to the , the ex-tennis ace, 81, said: "I’d met William and Kate a few times, and in the Royal Box you get a chance to chat with them a little bit."

"They play tennis against each other. William told me he couldn’t beat her."

The Duke, 37, and Duchess, 38, are famously competitive at sport.

During a royal tour of Poland and Germany in 2017 she joked to her crew: "No pressure, but I do want to beat my husband."

With regards to improving her tennis skills, Kate has been having lessons to brush up on her serve - just like her six-year-old son - at the Hurlingham Club.

It comes as the Duchess revealed her eldest child had been receiving tips from Swiss ace Federer

That same year, Kate revealed her desire to teach son George how to play tennis.

She asked Lawn Tennis Association coach Sam Richardson for tips at an engagement at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

He later said: “She says with George just being four he wants to whack a ball so she was asking what sort of stuff should she be doing."
