Mum sends her husband fake texts pretending to be the landlord to make him do more chores – and is hailed a ‘visionary’
A CHEEKY mum has shared her genius “hack” for making her husband do more chores around the house.
Taking to Facebook Aussie mum Rebecca revealed that she regularly texts her hubby pretending to be the landlord to scare him into cleaning - and it works every time.
"I'm going to let you ladies in on the biggest secret of my life and also my best cleaning 'hack' if you have a husband like mine who is great but not very helpful around the house," Rebecca wrote in her post.
"I was at my wit's end and trying to get him to help mostly with yard jobs I struggle to do.
“I went and got a cheap mobile phone and saved the number under 'Landlord' so every time I want something done I text myself that they are coming to check, fix or need access to something so my hubby does the chore I want done."
Rebecca, who is a mum-of-four from Mount Isa, says she's been using this "hack" for three years now and it works a charm every time.
"I use it when I want my husband to clean or tidy the yard or cut the grass I once even used to get him to move furniture around outside," she told Kidspot.
"He’s a great dad who spends a lot of time with the kids, but he just isn’t that handy and helpful with the house which is mostly fine.
“We're both a bit old school - he works, I get to be a stay-at -home mum, so he comes home to an immaculate home, kids bathed and fed and ready for bed.
"I make everything we eat basically and keep the car clean so when I was finding it hard to get his help and finding myself getting frustrated I devised my sneaky but funny plan."
Everyone loved the idea, with one even going as far as calling it "the most genius thing" they've ever read.
"Classic!! I crack the wobblies and say fine I’ll do it myself and as I start something I know my husband will come take over or I say I’ll get my dad to come do it. Always works," wrote one person.

Another added, "years ago too, I told my husband we had 3 monthly house inspections so he would help do a big clean up over the weekend every 3 months and clean his tools and garage up and his dog's mess."
A few were disappointed they owned their own properties, while Rebecca was hailed a "genius" and a "visionary".
For those who own their homes, someone came up with an alternative: "Save the number under council and say someone reported that the grass is out of control. That’ll get the mowing done at least haha."
And one woman had another hack of her own to add: "I put up a post on facey asking for a handyman and screenshotted and sent it to my hubs before I posted it… it encouraged him to hurry up and get it done or I'll pay someone else to do it."
