Woman makes stunning window seat for just £30 using leftover wood and cot mattress

THEY'RE one of Instagram's hottest home trends - but as much as we'd love to have a bespoke window seat in our homes, they can cost a small fortune to install.

Or do they? Because one savvy DIY fan has revealed how you can make a stunning reading nook for just £30.

And the best part is, you may already have everything you need for it.

Posting on the Facebook group , Courtney Gallears revealed how she made her own window seat with wooden pallets and a cot mattress.

Courtney began by measuring the nook and creating a frame to hold up the cushioning.

Sharing photos of the process, she then secured her leftover pallets to the front for support.

After this, she placed a large piece of plywood to the top of the frame - which can be removed and offers storage space underneath.

To finish off, Courtney painted the wooden frame to match the walls, cut the Argos cot mattress to size and scattered some mustard cushions from The Range on top.

Courtney told Fabulous Digital: "For the top I used 15m ply board cut to size, then used a cot mattress cut to the size of the board, then used a bed sheet to cover the mattress and stapled it to the board."

In total, it took Courtney five hours over five days to complete the project.

She wrote: "The window seat is complete! This cost me £30 for a cot mattress and the paint."

Unsurprisingly, the home transformation has gone down a storm with the group's 1.7m members.

"I have a large bay window and have been quoted £300 to make It like this," one replied. "Would love to do it myself!"

Praising the grey and mustard colour scheme, another added: "This is gorgeous. I absolutely love the colours."

"I'm obsessed with this," a third gushed. "Well done!!"
