Kate Middleton and Prince William release adorable new photo of Charlotte and George delivering food to the elderly
KATE Middleton and Prince William have shared an adorable unseen photo of Princess Charlotte and Prince George delivering food to pensioners.
The adorable snap was posted on the KensingtonRoyal Instagram page today in celebration of Volunteers Week.
The sweet photo was taken behind George, six, and Charlotte, five, as they accompanied dad Prince William 37, to deliver homemade pasta to the elderly from a social distance.
The image was taken by keen amateur photographer Kate, 38.
Alongside the photo was the caption: “As we approach the end of #VolunteersWeek The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share a new photo taken by The Duchess as they played their own part in the national volunteering effort.
“In April, The Duke and Duchess and their family visited the Sandringham Estate where they packed up and delivered food parcels to isolated pensioners in the local area.”
This follows the news that Prince William has secretly been working as a crisis volunteer on text messaging service Shout85258, a 24/7 confidential mental health helpline he and Kate set up last year.
He did 25 hours’ training and in a video chat with other helpers he wrote: “I’m actually on the platform volunteering.”
It was announced back in April that William and Kate were cooking food with help from their kids at their home in Anmer Hall, Norfolk, to be distributed in the neighbourhood.
They then handed out more than a dozen precious bags to local OAPs and vulnerable people forced to stay indoors.
Staff at nearby Sandringham have also been preparing and delivering meals for pensioners and vulnerable people since the lockdown was imposed.
The Queen, who is self-isolating at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip, also released a special message in honour of Volunteers’ Week.
Signing the message as from “Elizabeth R”, she said in a statement: “As Volunteers’ Week draws to a close, it is inspiring to reflect on the many thousands of people, who through their acts of generosity and kindness, have achieved so much for the greater good.
“I have been following with interest how men and women from around the world, including my own family, have been helping and recognising the vital role of the volunteer.
“I send my best wishes to all those who give themselves so freely and selflessly in the service of others.”
Wills and Kate have been staying at their home in Norfolk since the social isolation rules came into force in March.
The duke, who has a Geography degree, joked he was finding his children's homework a challenge.
Wills said: "I struggle with Year 2 maths."
They were seen together at their front door clapping the NHS as part of the Clap for Carers initiative.
