DULY NOTED

Neighbour demands mum stops her ‘loud’ 16-month-old ‘stomping’ around their flat in brutal note

A MUM was horrified after receiving a a brutal letter from her neighbour demanding that her "loud" toddler quit "stomping" around their flat.

The the hotel office manager, who was furloughed from her position, believed the note would be a "a wee welcome letter" from her new neighbours after she recently moved into Newhaven flat in Edinburgh with her husband and son.

But upon reading the note, the her and her husband were left "speechless" when the neighbours below threatened to call the agent if the 16-month-old continued to "run around," dubbing it "disrespectful".

She shared a snap of the hand written letter, which read: "If you continue allowing the child to run non-stop day/night the agent will be contacted. It's very loud and that's surely obvious on flooring - as it the stomping!

"There's two apartments below - please have some respect it's not fair especially after 12-hour shifts."

The parent, who wished to remain anonymous, told that they moved to the new home to give her child a better life.

The area they'd moved from caused "sleepless nights" as a result of neighbours "partying, arguing and basically showing anti-social behaviour during the night" so was pleased to have finally found a great place to live.

Up until receiving the letter, she described the first week in their new home as a "tropical paradise", with the warmer weather allowing her son to play outdoors for most of the day.

In a bid to encourage everyone to be kinder to each other, the mum now wants to share her response to the letter publicly.

Responding to her neighbour, she wrote: "Despite being a mother or even a woman all you need is to be a human to understand that the fact it's very hard for me as a mother of a 16-month-old boy and wife to keep everyone positive and happy while I try to wash, clean, cook and unpack constantly.

"It's almost impossible to not allow a 16-month-old boy to be running while he has no friends to play with, no soft play to entertain him and no nursery to be looked after and also he is a child and children need to play freely - now more so than ever!"
