The photo revealed the family’s TV with huge zigzag lines covering the whole screen.

Elsewhere one mother admitted arts and crafts are the main cause of mess in her kitchen and living room.

Ceri Roper shared a video showing paper, pens, glitter, glue and other crafts equipment covering the floor of her kitchen.

She explained in the Facebook thread: "This is a snippet of an afternoon's carnage. Give me Lego over a craft box any day!"

But Ceri said her son, who is austitic, is a ‘massive sensory seeker’ so it is not unusual for her to find him in crazy messes each day.

Another mother Laura Davies joked her three children can barely play in their playroom as there is no room due to the mess.

She shared a picture of the room with hundreds of toys covering the floor.

The mother wrote: "Their playroom which they can't play in as there is actually NO ROOM due to the mess! I give up."

Laura, who is mum to three kids aged 11, eight and five, said they have been in lockdown since March and had to be cautious due to her eldest and youngest child having asthma.

She said: "Their playroom is full of 11 years and 3 kids worth of accumulated toys and when they are all in their playing, emptying boxes looking for something specific, it can go from spotless to looking like we have been burgled in minutes.

"During lockdown this has been a common occurrence as I try to limit screen time and so they play with their toys more. The play room ends up like this and then they either refuse to play in it or just play in amongst the chaos depending on their moods.

"Once every couple of weeks we will blitz it and within hours it will be trashed again. I despair!"

The mother admitted she is picking her battles and trying to laugh at the mess instead of cry - and tries to get the kids out of the house on long walks in the countryside.

One mother left users in hysterics as she revealed her son ‘was a hamster for the day’ and posted a picture of her living room covered in paper shreddings.

Kelly Dixon decided to clear out her old university work and had eight bags of shredded paper for the recycling.

She said her son Jacob asked if he could empty the shredding to pretend to be a hamster before spending hours playing in it and throwing it around.

She said: "I underestimated how much shredding there was and how dusty it was so we ended up with a room covered in it.

"It made so much mess we decided to leave it overnight and let him play again the next morning before I deep cleaned!"

Another parent admitted she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when she came downstairs to see her 10-year-old daughter Lauren and four-year-old daughter Hannah covered in paint.

She wrote: "I was in between crying and laughing and trying not to lose the plot!"

The mother explained her daughters asked if they could get the paints out and she nipped upstairs before returning to the girls covered in bright blue paint.

She admitted she was in shock as she discovered Lauren and Hannah had painted their faces and arms - and even part of their clothes!

Meanwhile Laura Jayne Siddall said her three-year-old twins Bryn and Harlie had a ‘snowball fight’ with a bean bag chair.

Sharing a photo of her older daughter’s bedroom covered in tiny white balls, Laura wrote: "This was last week, stupid naive me thought the twins are playing so nicely upstairs so I'll finish my coffee in peace.

"I went upstairs in my older kids room to this...an emptied bean bag chair. Mummy we made snow want a snowball fight?

"So me and my twins spent some time throwing this around, then my partner spent 4 hours sweeping up all this seeing as the vacuum took one look at this and killed itself.

She shared a picture of a messy bedroom and admitted her little ones keep emptying their toy boxes every morning to make room so they can sit inside them.

She said: "I think they just like creating the mess and then watching mum and dad trying to get them out of their spacecraft to tidy it back up!

"They sit in there for quite some time. It's hilarious to watch but not when it’s left for us to tidy."
