From Holly Willoughby to Emma Bunton, the stars you never knew graced the Argos catalogue
For almost five decades the Argos catalogue showcased the finest gadgets, toys and homewear.
But less well known is that a host of celebs including Emma Willis, Holly Willoughby and Arnold Schwarzenegger modelled for those heavy, wipe-clean books early on in their careers.
It was announced this week that the so-called “laminated book of dreams” is being taken out of circulation as more shoppers move online.
We flick back through time for a nostalgic look at the celebs who had an early career break on its pages.
Emma Bunton
THE Spice Girl appeared as an angelic-looking youngster clasping her doll as her “mum” looked on in this Eighties family scene in the catalogue.
In 2011 Emma designed her own Argos line in kids’ clothes – modelled by her then four-year-old son Beau.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
LONG before he was The Terminator, he was . . . the Argos super builder.
An unmistakably hulky Arnie starred as Mr Muscle in the 1979 and 1981 editions.
By then a multiple winner of Mr Universe and Mr Olympia, he showed off his rippling abs with the Super Strength Builder – a steal at £10.59.
Tess Daly
STRICTLY host Tess cha-cha-charms in these cozy Nineties retro shots.
Unlike her fellow stars to be, Tess opted for the homelier Argos look, styling woolly cardies and tasteful shift dresses.
Emma Willis
A DOE-eyed Emma brings a boost to the catalogue in these uplifting early Noughties snaps for Gossard Ultrabra.
With perfect flowing black locks and glowing complexion, The Voice presenter looks as effortlessly glamorous as always.
Alicia Douvall
FORMER glamour girl Alicia’s career was shaping up well when she made her Argos modelling debut promoting that super Eighties gadget the electric body toner.
Holly Willoughby
A SMILING Holly poses in two skimpy lace bras in this Noughties Argos classic.
Back then, the Dancing On Ice host had long curly chestnut hair, very different to her cool blonde bob today.
