Prince William, Kate Middleton and the kids took a helicopter for their Scilly Isles staycation with dolphin watching
PRINCE William and Kate Middleton have taken George, Charlotte and Louis for a staycation near Cornwall.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 38, were seen cycling across Tresco, Isles of Scilly, on Thursday and stopped to greet their fellow holidaymakers.
The royal family-of-five ventured to the island located just off the Cornish coast for a “quick getaway” before George, seven, and Charlotte, five, return to school.
A source told Fabulous: “The Cambridges and royal protection officers took a flight by helicopter to Tresco.
“Boat taxis known as Specials were organised for low-key scenic boat trips for the family to be privately taken to some of the wilder islands for bird watching and seeing dolphins.
“This island is part private so a bit like their favourite holiday destination Mustique, but without the mosquitoes.
“It is easy for the security men and everyone knows who is coming in and out on the islands.”
Kate and William chose to stay in the UK instead of travelling abroad due to not wanting to lose their ability to work due to potential quarantine rules.
“They decided on a quick getaway before the children return to school. They were keen to support our travel industry”, a source told the
“William and Kate were riding their bicycles, having a laugh. They looked so happy enjoying the weather.
“I did do a double take. They were really friendly and said hello.”
Although it hasn’t been confirmed if they have stayed in a hotel or private home, the source said: “The nearest neighbouring island Bryher with its picture-perfect hotel Hell Bay is the most likely accommodation for the Cambridge party and protection staff.
“The sea-view hotel, with the Emperor suite costing £310 per person per night, has a large sitting room, en-suite baths and balconies overlooking the ocean.
“Hell Bay also has a heated outdoor pool, sauna, treatment shed with a range of deep tissue and restorative massages, a jacuzzi, not to mention the wonderful wild gardens with well-tended plants.”
The island holds sweet memories for William, who was taken to the beauty spot with Prince Harry by their parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana as children in June 1989.
A seven-year-old William was seen preparing for a bike ride with his family, with Diana seen standing nearby.
William and Kate also visited the island in 2016 and were seen visiting the Tresco Abbey Garden and boarding a boat to St Martins.
The Cambridge family have spent lockdown at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, and are expected to return there after the trip.
