A MOTHER and daughter duo have revealed how they transformed their ‘boring’ bathroom into an idyllic space for just £100 in three days.

Polly Henman, 18, and her mum Louise, 50, had never liked their ‘dark’ bathroom but didn’t have the time to do anything about it.

Polly said it would have cost the family over £1000 to have the bathroom redecorated professionally

The beauty therapist said her mum had some time off work in September so they used a few days to transform the space - and now they are ‘obsessed’ with the result.

Polly shared their incredible DIY project on Facebook, writing: ‘Myself and my mum have redecorated our bathroom and we are absolutely obsessed.

‘And all for around £100 including the floor! So happy with it!

‘We need to finish a few bits of the floor but other than that all done!’

The post instantly raked up nearly 500 likes and hundreds of comments with users praising the mother and daughter’s DIY skills.

Polly said it would have cost the family over £1000 to have the bathroom redecorated professionally - so they are ‘over the moon’ to have saved hundreds and only spend £100 in total.

The mother and daughter, from Norfolk, said they are looking forward to actually enjoying the space now and indulging in long, relaxing baths.

Before - they used to limit their time in the bathroom - using it for washing only and never for relaxing.

Polly said: ‘We didn’t like our bathroom, it was never how we really wanted it but we never had the time to do anything to it!

‘But me and mum had some time off in September and decided that we should just transform it.

‘Before the bathroom was full, dark and boring. It was just somewhere to wash. But now we can enjoy long baths and actually enjoy the space.

‘If we had had it all done professionally it was going to cost around £1000!’

To get started with their bathroom project, Polly and Louise spent some time bargain hunting making sure to purchase the best thrifty buys.

They shopped in The Range, B&M, Homebase and Dunelm for all the accessories - grabbing mirrors, plants, wall prints and scented candles.

The pair also separated the tasks that needed to be done - to get the jobs done quicker.

Polly added: First of all, we bought all of the decorations. Mostly from The Range and B&M.

‘The decorations only cost about £30 altogether!

‘Then we bought the paint from Homebase which only cost £5 and we picked floor tiles from Dunelm for £37.’

The women then set to work on the DIY project and spent three days transforming the bathroom into a tranquil space with a modern grey theme and ditching their previous pink shades.

Polly painted most of the walls white before using the Homebase Turtle Dove shade to paint a feature wall in the bathroom.

While Polly worked on the walls, mum Louise tackled the self-adhesive floor tiles.

The daughter said: ‘We both put the things up on the walls but the decorations and design was all my vision!

‘The easiest part was deciding where to put the decorations as I had it all planned out.

‘But the hardest part was putting down the flooring. Simply because we had to get it to fit around the toilet and things and it was slightly tricky.

‘But the tiles themselves were easy to add as they were self-adhesive so we just stuck them down. The floor definitely makes the biggest impact to the room and we love it!’

Using the Floorpops Remy self-adhesive floor tiles from Dunelm may have been the trickiest part of the project but Polly admitted they only used three and a half packs out of 10.

Polly admitted that both she and her mother can’t wait to take full advantage of their hard work now that the transformation is complete.

She said: ‘We are so impressed and happy with the outcome!

‘We didn’t think it was going to turn out this amazing and for only around £100 we are honestly over the moon.

It’s now a place we can relax and unwind. It’s a tranquil space and we can’t wait to take full advantage of it!’

Facebook users rushed to the comment section of the post to praise the mother and daughter duo.

One user wrote: ‘Love seeing projects like this, especially mum’s and daughters. I used to follow my mum round when she was doing all her DIY projects. So well done both of you!’

While a second commented: ‘Wow what a transformation it’s really beautiful and very professional.’

A third shared: ‘That looks 50 times better! Well done xx.’

Meanwhile a fourth replied: ‘It looks great. Brilliant job on £100 budget. Well done!’
